Chain Won't Link Minecarts

I have the latest version of quark and ARL and only jei mod!
I try to link 2 minecraft but it just eats away my chains and no link is ever created i dont know how else to tell you but its an issue i would really like fixed because im trying to link 2 hopper minecarts for my mob farm collection system!
I am very disappointed because this is why I got the mod. I'm running 1.16 and when I try to link carts with a chain I am getting various bugs like not seeing the texture even though the carts link for one. Also, sometimes the chain just connects above the cart block for some odd reason. Apparently this problem is a couple years old yet on the home page for the mod it lists the cart chain linking as the first feature. On a side issue, I'm not sure this is because of the mod or maybe indirectly so....now one powered rail every 34 blocks is not enough to keep the newly formed train of multiple carts going. Geez, I wish the maker of the Railcart mod would get his act together and update it for 1.16.
I’m in 1.14.4 with the latest mod update and it seems minecart link is working but there is no link texture so you can’t see if it was connected also it stuck and sometimes unlinks by itself while ascending on powered rails
