Quark seems to cause intense memory use and lag for my 1.16.1 game. I have a heavily modded game running at 6-7GB allocated RAM and when quark is running my baseline 40% RAM usage shoots up to 75-90%. Perhaps this is just the nature of such an extensive (and cool!) mod, but any advice to help reduce this grind would be really appreciated.

nvm, sorry, upping the allowed RAM usage for the game fixed it

As for FPS hard to gauge. It'll be little lag hitches here and there.

I'm having similar issues on the 1.15 version, just straight up unplayable lag.
