Quark entities have it set to 80, vanilla has them at 8. Not sure how this happened.

I would assume that at one point Mojang moved from block distances to chunk distances for this, because looking at Botania's tracking distances, they all range from 16 to 128 (and the removed signal flare was at 2048), and it is like that from very early versions.
