I lost a 2 week old hardcore world because I accidentally pressed caps lock instead of shift while sorting my inventory and I walked right off the top of a tower. Auto forward should probably turn off when your inventory is open.

The fact you can walk and use your inventory at the same time is part of the reason the feature even exists in the first place.
