I understand that from 1.13 on mods are discouraged from removing items/blocks from registry when disabled, but could they atleast be removed from JEI in addition to their recipes being removed? I feel this would really make disabling features a lot more useful, and would save a lot of time for pack devs.

You can hide them manually using the JEI hide mode, you can enable it in the keybinds menu.
