adding quark stops game from loading

when I try adding quark to my 1.16.5 modpack the game closes almost instantly, without quark the pack launches without issue. I have the latest versions of both Quark and AutoRegLib and am using the recommended version of forge (36.2.0). I'm not exactly sure what is going wrong.
