If you leave the game and come back does it stay like that? It appears as if it's a problem with synchronising the chest's type.

It does stay that way until broken and replaced, both a relog and a server reboot does nothing to fix it.

Might just be a multiplayer issue.

No, I'm having exactly the same problem in single player. To make things even weirder, some of my spruce chests render fine, while others don't. And until recently, they all rendered just fine.

I also noticed that the same chests that don't get rendered correctly often don't render at all unless I'm close enough to open them, and either walk past them or mouse over them.

edit: I looked at the "latest.log" file in my logs folder, and noticed things like
"Failed to load texture: quark:textures/blocks/chests/_double.png"
and
"java.io.FileNotFoundException: quark:textures/blocks/chests/_double.png"

Today i moved some birch chests using the moving wand from not enough wands. The wand said they were spruce chests. Then the chests no longer connected into double chests. When breaking the chest i can see a spruce texture 'beneath' the birch texture. After relogging one of the chests turned into a vanilla oak one.

Closing because I'm cleaning up the issues page. This issue is really old and probably irrelevant. If you feel i should be re-opened please tell me why.
