Dupe artifacts and other items that can be placed in Curious, must be wearing a backpack. I also use the Curious BackPack mod.

To dupe, the inventory must be full.

I can't reproduce this without Curios Quark Oddities Backpack, with it, yeah, somehow the player drops a dup of the item when opening the Curios screen, this happens with any item, not only with curios.
What I noticed is that the duped item gets deleted as soon as the OG item is placed on a slot.
