If the shift lock on containers is enabled, shift will lock on the players inventory too once they exit the container. This will prevent the player from moving items in the inventory from anywhere other than between the hotbar and main inventory as all clicks will be shift clicks. Crafting is also impossible in this state. The only way to disable shift lock by interacting with another container.

I have noticed this issue in 1.18 and 1.20.1
