Would it be possible to make paths from all the Dirt based Blocks as Podsol, Coarse Dirt Mycelium and regular Dirt. Also from "soft" blocks as both sand blocks and gravel would be great.
Then it would no longer be necessary to change all the blocks into Gras to build paths in the various biomes.
