"Random Animal Textures" does not work if a Resourcepack with a CEM for that entity is used

Specific configuration
in which I discovered the issue:
- using OptiFine, so CEM (custom entity models) are enabled
- using PureBDCraft by Sphax, which brings a CEM for chickens
- using Quark, which brings random textures for chickens
Expected result:
Alternative textures from Quark are used on chickens alongside the default chicken texture from Sphax
Actual result:
Only the default texture from Sphax is used
Additional notes:
I was able to resolve this issue by either disabling OptiFine, or disabling Sphax. Neither is optimal.
Versions:
Mincraft 1.12.1
Quark r1.3-110
AutoRegLib 1.3-13
OptiFine 1.12.1_HD_U_C5
PureBDCrast 128xMC112
Forge 1.12.1-14.22.1.2485
I don't intend on adding specific code to support a feature fron optifine. Especially since optifine itself already has a way for a resource pack to add custom entity textures and variations.
If any issues are ocurring with the quark textures when using resource packs, you can turn them off in the config. That's about as much as I can do for this.
