I disabled the plates in the items.cfg
After that i restarted the game and it gave me a nullpointer exception.

There is no alternative recipe (it appears it attempts to find 1), nonetheless it should not crash anyway.
Your plates are not registered in the ore dictionary. Maybe this was intended , i don't know.
