Railcraft tank valve sometimes can't be read by ComputerCraft/OpenPeripheral (demo video)

Hey, I made a program to monitor Railcraft tanks back in FTB 1.5.2. Finally it was redesigned for FTB 1.6.4, but it doesn't always work. Investigations has shown that if I place a "bottom valve" one block behind and below the "readout valve" I can't read the values anymore. "No liquid in tank". I don't know status in 1.7 yet.
See my workaround video for more info and demonstration:

I first posted this on OpenPeripheral, link here:

I have now tried this in 1.7.10 as well. Still a problem. Have to place the second Valve on the side instead of bottom. So not critical, but kind of annoying ๐
Workaround video from last post still valid.
Using:
Using vanilla launcher with Forge (10.13.1.1232)
