Batbox/CESU/MFE Carts Not Accepting Power

I am using the version of railcraft present in Direwolf20 1.7.10 Modpack version 1.0.2 and the energy carts won't accept power from either batteries or the energy loaders. Thus, without using electric rails for my entire line, I have no power for my electric engine.

Are you sure the energy loader is the correct tier and that you're putting
the correct tier battery in the carts?

Alright, after investigating:

It appears that both RE-Batteries and Advanced RE-Batteries work.
Energy and Lapatron Crystals do not.

Energy loaders do work in their energy transfer.

@kwstoudt, it appears that your best bet right now is to use an IC2 energy storage block as an intermediary to drain power from the batteries.

Unless I'm mistaken, the electric locomotive cannot draw power from an energy cart directly. The locomotive can only draw from electric rails.
Update: @JoshTheEnder was indeed correct.

As for the other issue of the energy carts not accepting power, can you please post some screen shots of your setup?

commented

@Yopu if the locomotive and the battery cart are in the same train (i.e.
linked) the loco will use power from the battery cart (and ignore the rails
completely afaik)

So right now, it appears that the loader is dispensing energy to the ic2 energy carts if they are alone. However, when I attach them to a train, it stops working. I tried using an RE-Battery in the cart directly and it did not work for any of them.

Ok, now after reading the wiki on the energy loaders and putting a transformer upgrade on, it works. However, the batteries still appear not to work.

Ok, I was stupid and trying to use the batteries in the top slot of the cart... All is well.
