I'm sure there are more blocks in this game that mobs can't cross, maybe carpets.

Rail systems are naturally generated in mineshafts, so players have no other choice than to attack them at the rail system.

Seemed like an easy enough fix. 😛
Weird how this is legitimately intended behavior.
