I have a Rat with the upgrade Replanter, I have set up rat tubes much closer than some of the normal exits of my base but he will instead pathfind to a door I have at the entrance of my base, or instead of using the rat tube to get into areas will instead just jump up against a doorway/gateway to get in. I have also found that the rat (once i was able to get him to go into a rat tube, only happened twice and what seems at random) will get stuck going downward and I will have to break him out of the tube.
