It happens on MC 1.12.2 and 1.10.2, with latest version of the mod.
You can also notice that the entrance of the miner camp is often obstructed by being one level below the surface.
On the last pic is a failed ProjectRed volcano under the Hobbit Hole.
This might be related to #218
