Covers not rendering on destuctors and constructors

Describe the bug
I noticed in a modpack that when I placed covers on the constructor and destructor they didn't render correctly (or at all)
In the image below I placed a cover on the top and a hollow cover on the front of the constructor, destructor, import, export, and external storage.
Because the modpack had a number of mods I created a new test pack with forge 43.2.6 and nothing but RS 1.11.6 to test and verified that it still rendered the covers as invisible on the destructor and constructor. The screenshot above is from the testing profile. I did not add any resource or data packs to the profile for testing.
Game setting changes- I change the music volume (off), weather volume (50%), and GUI scale (2). I've changed curse to automatically assign more memory (12gig) to MC by default.
I looked back at some previous packs I was using and found that I could reproduce the behavior in RF 1.11.5 (forge 43.2.6) and RS 1.11.4 (forge 43.2.3); however I did not test those versions without other mods
How can we reproduce this bug or crash?
- Place a constructor or destructor
- Attach a hollow cover to the front
- Notice the hollow cover renders without any texture but it outlines correctly when the mouse hovers over the block.
- Attach a solid cover to any other side
- Notice the hollow cover renders without any texture but it outlines correctly when the mouse hovers over the block.
- Cover type and side seem to have no effect on the behavior
