It would be very nice to have those acting as wires, it'd definitely decrease lag and it would look somewhat better IMO.

There are some mods that add connectors/wires, like https://github.com/malte0811/IndustrialWires.

No only RS cables will be supported, also, it wouldn't decrease lag.
