2.1.7 - loot chest fob watches no longer allow you to absorb their regenerations

i have found a few fob watches now - all with varying amounts in them - from forges to end cities
however not sure if this is related to me dying while fighting the chaos guardian and the server crashing or not
but basically i can use my regenerations, transfer them to my fob watch but cannot transfer them from my fob watches - tried several of them in all varying amounts in case the partially filled loot ones were themselves bugged, but not even a full fob watch worked - it says youve collected your regenerations, and that you can now regenerate, but when you open a chest - they all go back to the watch, as if i never 'consumed' them in the first place
tried using the watch and logging off and on again but to no avail
how old is this world? I thought looted fob watches got removed because it became too easy to find them.
I'm thinking, if it's a current world, but a pack that has been around from before the change, a mod might be existing which has taken note of the fob watches and continued to spawn them in by editing loot tables on it's own and remembering the fob watches being in them, but not knowing they're not meant to be anymore. and so they could potentially be spawning with bad nbtdata that makes them not work properly anymore... alternatively it could just be a really annoying bug if it doesn't work even with a cheated in fob watch from JEI.
its a custom modpack i threw together - its only been running maybe 2 months; if that - and i havent had a problem with looted fob watches until the latest 2.1.7 version - and while i couldnt tell you what version i was using when i created the world, i do know i have updated the mod twice since 2020-03-15th (and that i skipped a few update versions in between due to players complaining about redownloading my modpack fresh...)
if loot watches were disabled as you say, then is it possible that they are a config option that i enabled?
in either case - these fob watches are useless in 2.1.7 and not only that i cannot craft new watches as they are empty as well, so i fail to understand how to get more... how are we supposed to get them, if not by loot or crafting?
so, after my last post i got on my server and looked up the fob watch recipe
seems to have changed since the last time i made one - and after crafting it it was full 12/12 durability
unfortunately this new crafted fob watch reacted the same way as mention above - i cannot absorb regenerations from this type of fob watch either
hmm... configs could be weirding out. but was fairly certain loot watches did get removed. I haven't come across bugged watches in my pack and thats 230+ mods big, and has both seen 2.1.0 and 2.1.7 before, so if I could perhaps get an idea what mods are in your pack I could compare against my own and you could take a wild guess at the rest at what could be interrupting. as I know a handful of things that screw other mechanics or visuals, but nothing has screwed the actual using of the watches yet.
in JEI though with F3+H (or whatever it was that enables extended tooltips) if you shift over one and hold ctrl it should display the nbtdata of the item within the tooltip. there could perhaps be something ruining the watch by adding dodgy data to it or something? thats my guess.
(alternatively you can check against my pack on twitch yourself. It's called timeless Technician. it's relatively new.)
note: after my last post i got my friend online to try using one.
here's the thing just after i updated to latest version, i took on the chaos dragon from draconic evolutions, and died during big lag - like 10-15 attacks hit me at the same time, damn it - i started to regenerate, but then lagged and got kicked.
when i got back on, the chaos dragon had disappeared and i tried to recover my lost regeneration using the watches that had been working up till now. it didnt. i can still use the regenerations i have - even use them at will using Y.
i can even "Store" my regenerations in the same watch i cannot receive from (they still just 'seem' to apply, then reset themselves.
back to my friend...
basically as there were 2 things that happened when this occurred:
1 - updated the mod
2 - fought, lost, lagged out then the chaos dragon bugged out
and, as i have a full complement of genetics reborn genes, i wanted to eliminate the modifications to my character as the cause of this...
EDIT: i also have full Level 5 Thor Powers
and the watches did the same thing to him!
apart from basic armor and tinkers tools, he only had a curio ring of flight

testing my loot chest fob watches on a fresh modpack copy, fresh save on a superflat world, starting in creative and going survival to test the fob watches both consuming and storing my regenerations using my last 3 mod versions i have
1.7.0 - loot chest fob watches work properly
2.1.0 - loot chest fob watches work properly
2.1.7 - loot chest fob watches work properly
what the hell?
now this means it has to be something that happened in my server - but why would something that happened to me affect others on my server as well - essentially all fob watches both already found, to be found and crafted?
seems you're getting closer. there might be a residual bug on your server going on, potentially to do with player modification...
I wanted to blame genetics or lucraft. cause I remember there being a config to disable regenerations for super heroes or something.
but that doesn't explain why your friend is having the issue too if he's just an ordinary human, unless he ain't. OR why it's bugging the watches and not just stopping the player executing a regeneration. unless this is the blockage.
but whats the lucraft regeneration segment I saw? is that an addon or does that appear due to lucraft and regeneration being available and so regeneration makes that exist to make compatibility?
lucraft is really the only thing i can think of, because I don't see any other mods off the top of my head that would draw a negative corelation as I use most of the big ones other than rf tools and woot myself or have used them previously in other things.
that specific config i made sure to allow super heroes to regenerate - and i have had thor powers for a while and had no issues there
just thinking... i remember my friend also wanted thor powers but hadnt got round to getting the karma required to pick it up last i checked...
as for my mod list - i incorrectly thought that regenerations was based off of lucraft (solely due to the mod compatibility in configs for radiation immune if time lord)
so when i was writing the list of mods in the pack, i grouped mods together with their dependents and addons...
just confirming that my friend has no player modifications
he just had basic armor, tinkers tools and weapons and 2 curio rings (magnet and flight)
I don't know what could have happened here sadly, all I can suggest is that you ensure your Forge is up to date. As for the LucraftCore superpower config, all that does is enable/disable being able to have superpowers at the same time as having regenerations. It was specifically added for the Craftfall Server (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/craftfall), due to the superpower being used in Combination with things such as Kree Hybrid powers, making you nearly unstoppable.
The radiation config just makes timelords immune to radiation from LucraftCore, as Timelords can soak up Radiation in varying amounts in the show.
I think it is clear, but LucraftCore is not needed to be able to install the Regeneration Mod.
At the most, all I can tell you is that this issue is not anything to do with LucraftCore or my mods code, do keep me posted on your findings, I'll leave this open until the stale bot takes care of it
As a side note, 1.12 support will not be a priority, as I need to move forward, onto new Minecraft versions, and fixing bugs in older versions, slows that down
understood, until recently i couldnt move up to newer versions
previously my laptop wouldnt handle post 1.10+ (less than 3ghz processor)
then, when my pc could handle it forge locked up for non vanilla launchers post 1.13+
now my launcher has fixed this somehow! cool! but have been playing my server during that 1.13+ forge fix... so do not even know what mods are available post 1.12+
maybe my next server will be newer? who knows...
however i do get you cant keep supporting older versions of your mod.
and honestly, i believe the issue lies while the chaos dragon/guardian. and from what i can tell, if this is true, it could be a one in a million chance of occurring....
i found out that they made changes to the boss event but in doing so (so ive found out) they made glitches in its code (things like if you do not destroy it's crystals in the first go sure they are supposed to protect themselves for 10 seconds or so, becoming invulnerable. but every so often this mechanic bugs out and they do not reset; and you need to let the chunk despawn to fix it... theres others too i think...)
but as to why this affected your watches for everyone playing... no idea

ok, im calm now...
basically i didnt innitially do this, cause i was afraid of not recovering my regenerations... as in at least id have extra 5 lives rather than none.
basically i transfered ALL my regenerations to one of my space loot chest Fob Watches (actually i had to use 2 of them - 4 in one and the last in another - both times making a complete 12/12 durability watch)
after i had no regenerations left i reopened the very same fob watch i just made complete and consumed all 12 regenerations - they stuck. no sign of the bug so far...
ok, since writing that last bit ive continued to test.
it turns out that every time you already have regenerations 'in stock' the watches will not work - they reset and you lose any regenerations you may have consumed.
however, the whole, have none it works thing is repeatable! now this is interesting... because every time you consume more regenerations from the fob watches when you already have some, the notification says: "You are now a Time Lord. You can Regenerate." But i was already a time lord and able to regenerate...
could this - for whatever reason - be why the watches reset? i register on the server as both having regenerations and not a time lord?
