When I open the skin settings on the regeneration menu my game just instantly crashes preventing me from choosing my skin

Does this happen every time?

Yep however once I deleted the extra skins I added it stopped so I believe it’s something to do with adding your own skins to the regeneration skins folder

Could be the way your pngs were saved
