Infinite regenerations not working (1.16.5)

As the title suggests, I found out moments ago that infinite regenerations aren't working. Just setting the regeneration cycle to 0 in the config, saying that doing so, would give you an infinite amount of regenerations, just sets your cycle to 0, meaning even if you were to get a fob watch, you would not be able to regenerate.
Is there a fix to this?
Infinite Regenerations are actually pending removal - would you mind informing me of your usecase for using infinite Regenerations?
Yes, of course. I had an idea when I tried to enable infinite regenerations, wherein I don't have to worry about finding new fob watches/chameleon arches to refill regenerations. Instead, I could regenerate an infinite number of times, but I would have a 5 minute cooldown at least, after typing this issue, a couple days later, I realized that it might've been possible, but my whole idea was I would be able to regenerate infinitely, but the post-regeneration effects would disappear, though I still wouldn't be able to regenerate, at least for 2 to 3 minutes at that point
I realized that was impossible and overall forgot about this post later on
