Charging/Reloading Items Outside of Player Inventory

Magic items that use some form of "charge" or "ammunition" (such as feathers for the Staff of Rending Gale, Ender Pearls for the Ender Staff, etc) maintain their toggled auto-absorb state when removed from the player inventory, but will NOT absorb their charge. This makes, say, hooking up my giant enderman farm to a chest and just putting the item in that chest, or constructing a version of my automated assembly line that produces items fully charged, impossible. This also applies to "fake players" such as the Thermal Expansion Autonomous Activator, which can (if they have a "sneaky" option) toggle the item's state, but not make it absorb anything.
Tested with Sojurner's Staff, Touchstone of Midas, and Ender Staff.
