It'd be great if Crafters could do fuzzy recipes. I wanted to automate creating Botania's Floral Powders (Mortar and Pestle plus any Mystical Petal, shapeless)with the Crafters. Currently I need two Tier 3 crafters, while it would be much simpler (and IMHO, logical) to have the Crafter recognize any Mystical Petal as an ingredient and produce the respective Floral Powder.

That's extremely complicated to implement I'm afraid

Unless you do it the lazy way and let users provide BuildCraft-esque "lists" of items which fit in a given slot.

Another solution would be to add an crafter which matches an recipe real time based on input, so there's no preconfigured recipe.

Forge tags in 1.14/15 should actually make this possible.
