Silly me couldn't figure out I needed multiple braziers until after much experimenting

I decided to keep all I had written, believing there was a bug. As you can already see from the sheer length of this wall of words, I tried many different things until I tried putting down and burning multiple incense braziers until I finally succeeded at the ritual of creating living tools. It was probably obvious to smarter people than I that one needs multiple braziers burning multiple ingredients, but I'm a fool and humbly suggest you guys take pity on my very common kind and write even clearer instructions using even smaller words... since our silly kind are too absent-minded and scatter-brained to remember that there's a video linked on your mod page showing the use of several braziers! ๐ฅน ๐ซฉ ๐น
Thank you so much for Roots Classic in the first place! I feel very nature-ey, which goes great with an Origin race/class like Pixie, Dryad, Earth Spirit, Gaia, Wood Elf and Forest Gnome, and Firbolg.
By the way: you know how you need to hoe leaves to get currants, elderberries and such? This isn't your fault, but just as a head's up: apparently the tree chopper mod I'm using -- I believe FallingTree-1.19.2-3.10.1.jar which came with Better MC [FABRIC] - BMC1 (Better MC [FABRIC] -BMC1 v20) -- auto-breaks leaves which counts as using a hoe on them, so I always end up with huge amounts of the stuff which I keep having to toss out or compost (but you can't compost elderberries nor nightshade?) right from the first tree I punch. Not a big deal, but maybe... change it so those berries drop only with the use of a new tool? Or would it be inane to go with what's already there, instead of having to make (in-game, and mod-develop) and lug around yet another tool?
Oh yeah, a small but serious irritant: when it asks for an empty hand, you need to empty BOTH hands: gotta remember to unequip your shield as well, every single time. ๐ค Is it needed to activate these things with empty hands? You really can't click it while holding a sword or a stack of diorite like you can at a furnace or grindstone, for the convenience and not throwing up extra hurdles to jump over every time for no benefit?
I see no comments section on CurseForge, neither a Wiki discussion page, so I've no choice but to ask here.

So if any issues I bring up have been fixed in later Minecraft versions and/or Roots Classic versions, go ahead and reach through your screen and slap me. ๐ณ ๐
So I follow what the runic tablet says:

- wooden axe, verdant sprig, and gold nugget, from the top row, onto the casting altar, in that order
- two oak barks, from the bottom row, to the right of what looks like a stone carving of fire, which I assume means the incense brazier
-
- but the brazier only lets me add one oak bark...? I can add the first, but when I try to add a second out pops the first one..?
- the big empty grid below tells me I needn't place any standing stones or something else of the sort
So I shrug hoping for the best, add the one oak bark it'll let me, and ignite it with a flint and steel, to it telling me "Brazier Is Now Burning":

Then when I sneak-right-click the casting altar with an empty hand, as the runic tablet instructs -- but it tells me "Ritual found, but brazier ingredients are missing or not lit":

Huh? Did I do something wrong? Did I misread? Is it bugged? It wouldn't let me add both oak barks to the incense brazier as the runic tablet seemingly instructs; is this the problem?
I carefully read and re-read the runic tablet, even going back to prior pages and entries, but couldn't unearth any clues as to what's missing:

"ItemS [emphasis mine] may be placed within the brazier..." "...and necessary itemS [emphasis mine] are ignited..." but again, the incense brazier will only allow me to add one bark.
"Make sure you don't have any extra ingredients in the altar..." as you can see in the screenshots, I've only added a wooden axe, verdant sprig, and gold nugget. "...or extra incenseS [emphasis mine] in the air, or the ritual will fail." I waited until I saw the smoke animation stop, and also tried to extinguish the brazier by sneak-right-clicking with an empty hand, but neither worked.
I tried with a wooden pickaxe as well, thinking maybe it was just the axe which was bugged, but same result:

I remembered the vanilla enchanting table won't "see" the bookshelves if there's a carpet "blocking" the way, so I thought maybe the snow was stopping things so I shoveled all that away and dropped glowstones to keep it all melted for the duration of the ritual -- but none of that worked, either.
Despite the runic tablet telling me "...or extra incenseS in the air..." I got the idea to put down a second incense brazier, put an oak bark in both, tried with a wooden sword and the others, and ... success!

I excitedly put in the wood axe, sprig, and nugget ... but it failed again. But when I tried putting out both braziers, inserting a new oak bark into each, and re-igniting, I finally got my living axe!

Maybe a ritual should still work if the incenses are still burning, even if there was a prior ritual they were used to activate already? If possible? If you feel it causes big enough trouble with enough people to be worth the hassle? ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
