What happened?

I know you've updated to 1.16 already, but I don't feel like playing that version until another mod gets updated, so I'm not asking for a fix (unless you have one), just a temporary remedy, if possible.

My world constantly experiences internal server lag, and whenever I set the difficulty to peaceful for a sec, the lag instantly goes away, so it's a problem with hostile mob spawning/behavior. I've tried using In Control! but nothing has helped (and i'm not 100% i'm doing it right; i could send the code i'm using right now if that would help)
