I have cheat mode enabled, and I’m able to give myself any item I want. Except for enchanted books. Other collapsible categories work, like potions and spawn eggs. But when I click a book, nothing happens.

I tested JEI on the same world and it’s able to give me enchanted books, so I don’t think it’s an issue with a world setting.

I combed through the settings and didn’t see anything that looks related to the issue.

Maybe I’m just dumb and did something wrong :(

I did a ton of googling and couldn’t find anything helpful. One post said that the “Essentials” mod changes how commands work and breaks the /give command REI uses, but I don’t have that installed.

I’m out of ideas at this point. I really wish I could just get REI working because it’s soooo much nicer that JEI. It’s so weird and frustrating that JEI can give enchanted books and REI can’t…

Btw my specific setup is the “DeckCraft” mod pack (2.7.0+1.21.1.fabric) but I’ve used REI on this pack in the past and I don’t remember having this issue before.

You can change the give command in the rei config.json5 file. You can find it in the configs folder.
Change it to /minecraft:give
