Ive been experimenting with the Recurrent Complex mod and it has an amazing Wand

Its the Floating Block Selector

Could you implement something similar. A Wand where you can select a Start and Finish point (including air) to select an area to save as a schematic.

And maybe a wand to select a block that a schematic will be loaded at.

It actually is possible to do it. One of my earlier concepts used shift clicking paper to set the different points, but I couldn't figure out what combination to use for setting the red/blue points separately.

Could possibly use any item if it has a specific name?

It's not possible to add new items without requiring that the mod be present on the server, but it could maybe possible to allow binding an existing item (in the same way that worldedit does it).
