when you join a server that has a downloadable resource pack, the resources are reloaded causing the mods screenshot to not be shown and instead show the minecraft loading screen. it also breaks the fade in because of this as it fades from the loading screen instead of the screenshot.
if possible it might be a good fix to temporarily replace the loading screen with the ingame screenshot while loading into the server.
