BEFORE CONTINUING:
- Always check you are using the latest version of these mods and its dependencies
- Remove known problematic rendering mods such as Optifine, Sodium and others
Version-Loader
1.20.1-fabric
Moonlight Lib Version
moonlight-1.20-2.8.66-fabric
Issue Detail
Treasure maps are becoming chunk ban items, I've got this with modded and some of the vanilla ones. Removing moonlight solves the issue, also getting this with moonlight alone.

Some of the information below might even be helpful:
I had the same issue, this happened to me over several versions of the library(I have the latest one right now) although, OptiFine_1.20.1_HD_U_I5.jar
also has to be there.
Paper server: client disconnects when a FILLED_MAP is in an ItemFrame or inside of the player's inventory, however it does not matter, if an ItemFrame is held.
Singleplayer world: game crashes whenever a map is created/help, I don't know anything else
client disconnects even after this(Kotlin):
player.inventory.setItemInMainHand(ItemStack(Material.DIRT))
player.inventory.addItem(mapItem)
I crashed the first time on a singleplayer LAN, then again in just singleplayer. There was no error in either console on the server.
Anyways, here's my stack trace, if you'd like it:
crash-2023-11-27_18.26.41-client.txt
Does it work with a normal server? If not it's a paper issue, we can't be expected to have things work for paper
Same as with any other server. Put it into the server mod folder
Its... a public server
Why even talking about this tho, of you are playing on a server and aren't the owner you are not the one that decide which mods to add or not

bro? i wanted to install some client side mods only to play on various servers but cant because they use a library that can only function properly when installed on both sides, that truly doesnt make any sense bruh
Here the same Issue, it on an Paper server, the admin tried out to do on it, but it does nothing work here on our side
i had only added it on Client side,
i had added Also Fast Painting, but allways, with this two Mods, it Crash

Moonlight is required oh both servers and clients. I have no mods that are client only (and that thus require this) (besides better jukeboxes which could function client only in jank mode)

Dont use paper with mods. Paper is for vanilla! The fact that it seem to work with some mod combinations is merely a chance and such servers are known to break shit all the time becausae devs do not care about the modding environment. I remembr having issues with them completely disregarding dapack registries. Why would they as vanilla only has a set of hardcoded ones. This doesnt even come from me, its general consensus in the modding community and unless paper devs put effortin providing mod compat it wont happen
