Potentially user error, but game crashes on launch

SGJourney is the only mod in the mods folder and, as said, the game simply will not launch with it in there. Thought maybe Forge was outdated or something, installed newer version, still won't launch. Then I thought "okay screw it", uninstalled launcher and Minecraft in Windows, deleted .minecraft, fresh install of launcher and 1.20.1, fresh install of Forge, and wouldn't ya know it, it still won't launch.

This is the error I get:

Checking the log file, one thing I see popping up a few times is "Registry Object not present: sgjourney:milky_way_dhd". Same for a "sgjourney:archeology_table". Link to that log file here: https://pastebin.com/HETaJZ3p

I say this is potentially user error since I don't see anyone else with this issue, but I have no clue what the "error" might be. Hoping it's something simple and stupid and I'm just a foolish little man.

I know 16gb isn't the largest amount of ram in this day and age, but I feel like it should enough for this. Is Minecraft really that demanding nowadays? Can't help but feel like there's another issue at play here, but I have no idea what it might be.

Oh well. Just Stargate runs fine so I guess I'll just stick with that and close this issue.

The linked log states: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
which means the game doesn't have enough RAM.

Which version of Stargate Journey are you using?

Sometimes the mod file just gets built wrong (don't ask me how that happens, it's an automated process, so I'd like to know myself) and the compiled file then gets errors similar to this when you try to launch it. I don't really have time to test every single version of a mod for these slip-ups, so sometimes a problematic file slips through the cracks.

However, I know for sure that Stargate Journey 1.20.1 - 0.6.33 Hotfix works, as I've tested that one. So if you aren't using that one, try installing it and running the game again to see if that changes anything.

I was able to start the client with 3GB of RAM, newest 1.20.1 forge and Stargate Journey just fine.
You should check how much RAM you are giving to the game it self.
Which depends on the launcher you are using.

In the official launcher you should look in installation settings for JVM arguments

There you can set -Xmx6G -Xms6G which will give the game 6GB of RAM to use.

Yup, this did the trick. Forge shows how much ram is being used while the game is starting, and I noticed it uses as much as 4gb at points. Giving the game 6gb to use definitely gives it the breathing room it needs.

Anyway, reckon that's that. Thanks a ton for the help, brother 🤘
