[1.16.3, 1.15.2, probably also the rest of them] "Tipping" Armor

Sorry, I don't know where to grab the templates for this.
This is a persistent little glitch I've found in three versions:
- Valhelsia 2 (modpack)
- 1.16.3 version (SilentGear 2.3.3+168, SilentLib 4.8.1+ 61, Forge 34.1.42)
- 1.15.2 version (SilentGear 1.11.3+ 160, SilentLib 4.6.6+ 59, Forge 31.2.45)
The two basic installation versions above are completely clean with no additional modifications other than JEI.
Expected Functionality:
I have no idea. I assumed it shouldn't work, but there IS code for tipping armor giving armor better stats?
Actual Functionality:
It works, mechanically, as expected. Items gain some of whatever stat they're supposed to from the tipping.
Buuuut the visual in-inventory breaks to a black/purple texture. Of course, the base color remains the "true" color of the item - even if you wear gold boots you've mixed with 1 part Gold 3 parts Obsidian (with the color to match), they're still the true bright yellow of Gold. The same is true of 'tipped' equipment - the error I'm describing solely happens to the item in the inventory.
I'm assuming this is a product of armor not having a tipped sprite? Or something like it. It's incredibly easy to replicate:
Creative Mode, new world:
- Give yourself a Fully-Loaded Blueprint Book
- Give yourself Iron & Gold
- Make gold tips and iron boots.
- Combine tips with boots.
- Congrats, it's an error texture.
