Cannot get old tool rods from tools while replacing them with tool rods that werent made with a tool rod blueprint/template

Expected Behavior

I expected to get my gold tool rod back after replacing it with a bone on my dagger

Actual Behavior

The bone attaches, but I dont get the gold tool rod back

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

  1. Get a tool that has a tool rod
  2. Get a tool rod that wasnt made with a blueprint or template (stick, netherwood stick, bone, stone rod, iron rod, rough rod?)
  3. Replace it, and you do not get the old one back
