I found the refractive trait annoying when trying to eat, strip logs, build with blocks in your offhand, use a shield with a weapon. This problem could be mitigated while keeping the interesting idea by allowing users to rebind it to something other than the place button key, and allow players that do not want to use it to disable it if they choose to.
