Bombs aren't dropping, just exploding in the bomb bay

Describe the bug
When i attempt to drop a bomb, it simply just explodes in the plane. Oddly, it does not cause any noticeable damage to the plane, and with getting close enough to the target I can still damage it with the bomb, but i have to be nearly touching them to do so. The only plane that I have tested is the spitfire.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:
- Get in plane
- Get off ground
- Attempt to drop a bomb
- Explode
Expected behaviour
I believe that the bomb should leave the plane, right? Seems like a safety hazard otherwise
