when you have any piece of custom armor on the legs and boots slot gets black

Couldn't reproduce. Likely an issue caused by another mod.

Could you try with only Flan's mod and the latest Forge installed please?

Ah right, that's a dev environment only bug, there are a few :)

I don't know what that "AbstractTab" thing is, but the bug is not caused by my mod. Try with diamond armour
