What happened?

I have a conveyer belt set up, with a slicer w/ an axe attached to it. The slicer does not respond to the logs passing underneath it. I am trying to do this to automate getting tree bark. I also tried using a knife and passing different items underneath it which still resulted in nothing happening. I also tried throwing everything in a basin to see if that would fix the issue but no, slicer still does not respond.
