I suggest showing a text overlay (like the FPS indicator) for settings that "break" gameplay, such as disabling lighting updates. That would make it easier to debug what went wrong for users and modpack devs alike.

Alternatively, there may be a warning prompt before activation and moving such settings to one separate (maybe even collapsible?) group.
