From what I've been told, if I'm remembering it right, the Fabulous! setting generally isn't supported with Sodium unless something goes catastrophically wrong with it. It may be worth adding something in the menu that indicates this to be the case.

Whether an alternative solution for sorting geometry will be devised in future is another question entirely.

I think there is some confusion. Fabulous! mode is "supported" in the sense that Sodium does not intentionally break it and will generally fix regressions in relation to it (where the behavior is defined.) And there likely isn't anything coming in future versions of Sodium which will cause issues with it, either. But we aren't going to improve it and don't encourage people to use it, since the performance cost is too significant for very little visual improvement.
