"Bring Sodium support to Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 — this version is still one of the major modding versions."

Add support for using LZ4 compression instead of GZIP for Minecraft's NBT data. This would significantly improve performance, as NBT read/write is one of the less optimized parts of the game. LZ4 is on average about 5 times faster than GZIP

We are not going to support Forge on Minecraft 1.20.1. You can use Xenon (a modified, older version of Sodium) instead.

And Minecraft 1.21.5 already supports LZ4 compression for NBT.
