Ive got many diamond limited barrels of different slots, most are I, but ive got some IIs and IVs., after upgrading they lost their upgrade slots, kept the contents at least. All upgrades were lost, kept the first one only. After using a diamond to netherite upgrade, I barrels became just a wood texture (wrong texture btw, oak barrels have some other wood, but can still be accessed and used) without the item icon or counter, recovered the upgrade slots (but not the upgrades). II barrels and up upgraded correctly and just lost the upgrades, but are usable now.

I got one other report like this, but I am unable to recreate and they were not able to provide more steps how I could recreate, so what I would like to understand in your cases is:

• what version of sophisticated core / storage have you updated from to what versions of these mods?
• are there any sophisticated errors in the log from when you loaded the world / from when you opened gui of the limited barrel that's broken like this?
• what mods have you got in your pack? (because i wasn't able to recreate I am leaning towards this being some kind of bad mod interaction so that would be helpful as well)

one more question actually - do you use any other storage blocks like regular barrels and chests that have upgrades or at least are you able to see if after update they have proper number of upgrade slots? I find it really odd that only limited barrels would be upgraded because the upgrade handling is shared functionality and there's nothing really specific to how these are handled for limited barrels.

Im using ATM10, so.. lots of mods.

The versions updated from and to are:

Sophisticated Backpacks (3.24.2) -> (3.24.5)
Sophisticated Core (1.3.13) -> (1.3.24)
Sophisticated Storage (1.4.7) -> (1.4.17)

As far as Ive been able to debug, no logs or errors (even when upgrading one with the diamond to netherite), ill load a backup and see if I can get something

I also use your chests and barrels, and both of them work perfectly, just tested upgrading to netherite just in case and that also works perfect.

Would my save be helpful at all?

yeah the backup save may be helpful, I have ATM10 instance that I can test it with and see if I can find out anything else. Just to double check you haven't added any mods, correct? Have you made any config changes to sophisticated?

and I just tried test where I created barrel setup very similar to yours in that previous version of ATM10 and loaded the world in latest ATM10 and am unable to recreate so definitely backup would be great because there seems to be more that needs to go into the setup for the issue to show

Maybe this barrel has stuff actively being pushed into it and I need to try to recreate with some pipe pushing redstone into it?

Is this in single player or on dedicated server btw?

The barrels are connected to a storage controller and some inputs, but Im 100% positive most of them (if any) were not receiving any item as the world loaded, and it is single player (though sometimes opened to lan)

Just to double check this is the backup before you started the world in the latest ATM 10 version correct? I am seeing the same issue but want to make sure this is happening because during update the same issue happened and it's not just already broken storage loading again in the latest version.

Yes, that backup is the "healthy" version, saved on 10-2.42.
As a side note, just in case I disabled the new mods (all were refined storage) and the issue persisted when trying again with the same backup

ok, I was able to figure out that your barrels for some reason have number of upgrade slots set to 1 in their nbt and because of some recent changes it finally started taking that number from nbt and reduced the number of upgrade slots to 1. that issue with 1 being saved happened even further in the past because when I tried to place new barrel in Storage 1.4.7 it was still alright when I updated to newest version.

Anyway I have added a bit of fix in the latest version that is just being uploaded / approved on curseforge / modrinth. Tested with that version in your world and everything was ok so hopefully that will be it.
