Describe Your Issue
An apparent conflict between Sounds and Sully's Mod. A sound added or changed by this mod, I am uncertain as to which sound in particular, is spammed whenever the tortoise mob from the mod withdraws into its shell, whether that be due to being damaged by the player, or right clicked on to sit on top of its shell, the sounds only ceasing once the tortoise re-emerges from its shell. I have tested this without Sounds installed, and such an issue did not occur.
Unfortunately the video file I have of it will not attach to this issue, so I'll need to resort to using Streamable.
In some cases where the tortoise remained within its shell for longer due to some quirk of its AI, the continued sounds would eventually cause the game to crash. It is difficult to get this to occur and get it on recording due to its nature.
This was tested on a completely clean instance of Forge 47.3.22 for Minecraft 1.20.1, with only the required mods and their dependencies being installed, all at their latest available versions available for this version.
- Blueprint 7.1.0
- Mineblock's Repeated Utilities 1.0.4+1.20.1+forge
- Sounds 2.2.1+1.20.1+forge
- Sully's Mod 3.2.1-beta
Steps to Reproduce
- Make the Tortoise mob from Sully's Mod retreat into its shell via either right clicking it to sit on top of it, or damage it with your hand, a melee weapon, or a bow.
- Observe the intense spam of sound.
- If the tortoise remains in its shell for a longer period of time, the game may crash to desktop.
I'm really sorry you're encountering this issue. Unfortunately, support for Minecraft 1.20.1 has been dropped for this mod.
Maintaining compatibility across so many versions, especially with the added complexities of legacy Forge (LexForge) for 1.20.1, has become unsustainable. As a student developer with limited time, I need to focus my efforts on the current and more widely used 1.21.x versions to ensure continued development and stability.
You can find more details about the reasoning behind this decision in this Bluesky post: Goodbye Trails & Tales!
I understand this may be inconvenient, and I apologize for any disruption it causes. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to join my Discord server: discord.imb11.dev
Thank you for your understanding.
On a side note, please notify me when Sully's Mod updates to 1.21+, and I can test to see if this issue still occurs.
