Descriptions reset after death, even if you don't have carrot mode reset enabled

When I die, all foods get the "This smells mysteriously unfamiliar" added back to the description, even though I don't have the option to reset carrot mode on death enabled. It fixes itself on game quit/load. I don't think anything is conflicting, but I don't know. I don't see any errors about it in the log.
