Describe the bug
You can see 2 moons and or suns if you enable stellar view and Complementary unbound shaders
To Reproduce
Use version 0.4.4 of Stellar View on NeoForge 21.1.128 with Minecraft 1.21.1 and start the game. once you're done setting up the shader you will see the shader and vanilla sun and or moon (like in shown screenshot)
(and yes I have shader compatible mode turned on)
รou changed the Sun/Moon Style to reimagined, wich does not work as you now can only see the vanilla sun / moon and not the unbound anymore
so that would fix the bug to seeing 2 suns / moons but you cant choose to see the shader sun and moon
SV's sun and moon kinda can't be turned off. I understand now why you were asking for such, however.
I can whip up a resource pack that makes SV's sun and moon resemble Complementary's, if you like.
that would be a solution I guess... I just found a video of someone who got both working together
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqPWBxnIhIM)
so it should be possible somehow I just dont know how
I don't think that we ever figured out how they did that. SV has changed a lot in the time since that video was made. I know that at the moment, the stars do TECHNICALLY render, even though they're black. But all that can really be seen is the planets, the moon appearing even in midday, and meteor showers (though i'm unsure if those meteor showers I saw were SV's, or if Complementary has its own).
Yeah Complementary has own stars and Nabulae but it just doesn't look as good as Stellar view does
I'll try to research further to find any hidden options or something that could help making them both work together
The problem is: I want the exact opposite result: I want to see the shader-sun and not the cube like vanilla sun
Hm, that's half the problem solved at least! I'm gonna head off to bed now, but I'll continue helping you later, alright?
Try importing these settings and see if this fixes there being two suns and two moons. ComplementaryUnbound_r5.4.txt
This resource pack should do what you want. It removes the textures of the sun and moon. I thought doing this would cause them to unload (which would cause the whole system to unload), but apparently I was mistaken.
While I did look into making the sun and moon look like how Complementary has them, it doesn't seem as though it's that simple, due to the shader defining how the celestial spheres look using math instead of graphics.
StellarView Disabled Sun & Moon.zip
Tell me what you think!
In the Shader Pack settings go to Atmosphere > Sun / Moon
. The Sun/Moon style should be set to Reimagined (this will disable Complementary's sun and moon), and the Sun/Moon Angle set to 0ยฐ (this will align the sun's glare with where the sun actually is).
There will still be moon glare, but it's suitably dim enough that you can probably easily ignore it.
Hope this helps!
Unfortunatly not I still see both suns, I just deactivated the Mod for now... Maybe you could add a function to remove / hide the Sun
Wait in my Modpack it says Stellar view 0.4.4 thats weird ... Lemme Check that
Interesting... any chance of you joining our discord and showing me a stream, walking me through this?
Not right now. Maybe ITS some other Mod I use but once I uninstalled Stellar view it was gone and when I installed Stellar view + the shader it was there again... Might also be some shader settings I messed up
If the SV sun isn't rising directly overhead, then you may need to adjust the angle so that the sunglow is lined up with it. If the sunglow is ahead or behind the sun, I would find that rather odd, as the SV sun and Complementary's sun more or less should be in the same place as vanilla, to line up with the day/night cycle.
Propably but isn't there a solution wich just stops Rendering the Vanilla sun? It feels odd to have to suns rendered above eachother
If there was a solution, it would be built into Complementary. If SV's sun were made to not render, I'm pretty sure none of the planets would render either, limiting what DOES render to just shooting stars and maybe the moon. SV has no business modifying how other shaders render things.
The solution I gave you, I got from one of the Complementary devs. It works for me, as I've proven. I'm unsure if that's a sun added by anything besides Complementary, as it really looks like Complementary's sun.
Tell me, with the changes you've made, does Complementary's moon still render at night?
Yeah Vanilla and complementary moon do render, I'll try to setup the shaders sun above the Vanilla ones I guess thats the best solution and If that doesn't fit I have to play without the mod
Hey. There aren't that many menus where you need to press an "Apply" button in order to change some settings. Some people might genuinely not notice. I had no intention of insulting your intelligence, I just wanted to be sure you had known to do that.
I'm gonna play around with the shader settings some more, to see what I can figure out.
Im Not really Offended by that but as soon as I take settings then go out of the menu play a bit and go back to change something I normaly notice If my settings are saved I could send you my shader configs tomorrow or maybe even later today
That would be helpful.
If all else fails, you can also try resetting your configuration (back up the settings of course), then go back and change the settings I mentioned earlier.
- in there is the Shader folder and the config.txt just extract both into your shader folder :)
(Its a high quality preset tho, so you might not want to use it if you have a potatoe as a PC)
It makes sense that another shader or other type of mod might add them. No, I don't need your full modlist, I was just curious.
@Noobly-Walker When the sun is in the sky, there are two black dots. Iโm not sure where theyโre coming from, but I guess itโs not too much of a distraction.
Look at those dots with a telescope. Probably Mercury and Venus! They're supposed to blend into the sky during the day, but Iris/Oculus/whatever (or the shader itself, you never know) messes up the blending.
How'd you get those galaxies to render? Is that also a part of Complementary?
