How to pull a rope (with or without block attached)?

Hello. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't pull a rope by right click with empty hand with shift as wiki says.
"The opposite is also true and can be achieved by shift clicking a rope with an empty hand. This will pull up the last attached block. Useful for wells".
I'm clicking on highest part, but any other parts also don't pull the rope. Extending a rope works fine, but if I want to just get it back - I can't. Lifting blocks up also dont' work, while moving them down works. But I saw a video with mod showcase and it worked.
Maybe it's because of Fabric, as description says - Fabric version might be missing some minor features as the mod is mainly for Forge ?
