Before Continuing:

• Check you are using the latest version of the mods and its dependencies
• Always include a latest.log if you are crashing
• Remove mod that enhances Minecraft: Optifine, Sodium, others. The issue persists.
• If you are unsure which mod is the culprit.
  Disable all of your mods and enable them 1-2 mods each time to isolate the culprit
• Confirm that there is no existing issue with a similar description submitted in the list of issues.

Issue Detail

For quite some time I had a bunch of cages (both empty and with an entity captured) in a backpack (Traveler's Backpack).

Last time I had to use the cage, I took it out and was never able to put it back in. It used to work with shulker boxes as well but doesn't either.

I've created a fresh 1.20.1 instance of Minecraft with Fabric and just Traveler's Backpack + Supplementaries (and dependencies) installed, and in a fresh world giving myself a shulker box+backpack+cage I'm unable to put the cage in any of the containers.

edit: I have also tested the above without Traveler's Backpack installed, and the cage can't be put in the shulker box either.

Have I missed a new limitation being introduced? If so, is it configurable?
