While it is extremely amusing it:

• is has caused crashes in the past.
• is disruptive to gameplay in certain scenarios (e.g. easy access to molds in Gregtech/Tinker's Construct).

A way to disable via a config setting would be nice.

thats unrelated tho, there was a crash today because of a bug with shaders. the actual solution was fixing the issue which i did 10h ago

Fair. That does not address the second point which is that it's extremely disruptive to some gameplay scenarios which rely on being able to visually identify which items are in the item shelf.

For example; I use item shelves in my Cosmic Frontiers base to store Gregtech Extruder Molds and Laser Engraver lenses for quick, easy access. As you can see, though, I can't exactly tell which lens or mold is which right now.

As I said, while I love this April Fools joke and thought it was quite funny when I first realize what was going on it's quickly become extremely disruptive to my gameplay.
