The hitbox of fireflies is currently 1 block high, while only being 1/4th block wide.

that's intentional. If they had a smaller one it would be really hard to catch them and having some space on the top and bottom prevents them from visually touching floors and ceiling which would make them look weird. Also I fail to see where this would be a problem
