Ears/Tail disappearing randomly after closing MC

I just recently started using the Tails Mod, but I keep getting this bug where my tail and ears won't show in game and everything in the selection GUI is invisible.
Everything works for a while before the problem occurs again. It only happens after I shut the game down and open it again at a later time. It doesn't happen after every relog, just random chance from the looks of it.
I've also exported the skin as well (through desktop if that makes any difference) and my friends using the mod were able to see my tail and ears. They haven't been on recently though, so I can't confirm if it's invisible to just me or others as well.
Removing the Tails Mod from my Mods folder and downloading a new one seems to fix it but the problem seems to continually happen. It's a bit tedious to do though so I'm hoping for a more permanent solution for the bug.
Additional Information:
PC, Windows 7
Version 1.8 with Forge + Liteloader
Mods (all version 1.8): FoxLib, Tails, Optifine & Mumfrey's Chat Macro and Keybinding Mod
No settings/mods/folders were changed from when the mod was working to the time of everything becoming invisible.
EDIT:
Other players with the mod are able to see my tail/ears even when I can't. So it just appears invisible to me only.
Changing from one account to another seems to cause everything to become visible again (sometimes it takes 2-3 account changes).
Hmm, that seems very odd.
It doesn't seem like that player data is corrupting as others wouldn't be able to see your tails/ears. Are you connecting to a dedicated server? If so, is that server in online mode (ie you need to be logged into an account with Mojang to connect)
Yes, it's a dedicated server, in online mode.
I've recently noticed that whenever I go into single player mode and then go to a server everything remains visible. It'd be nice to work out the glitch, but now that I don't need to relog to fix it I'm not very concerned anymore.
Maybe it's trying to join straight to a server that causes the problem? So far I haven't had the problem in single player mode. (I'm always logged into my Mojang MC account, even for single player)
