Incompatibility with Valkyrien Skies

Issue description
With Valkyrien Skies installed, the game crashes when the Root Shell is sheared. There are some visual bugs during terraforming as well.
Steps to reproduce
- Install Valkyrien Skies
- Trim the Root Shell.
- Game Crashes.

Other relevant versions
Valkyrien Skies version is 2.3.0-beta.5
